Blueprints for Our Future

Pathways to Construction & Manufacturing Series

A series of virtual events aimed at building stronger pathways to living-wage careers in the construction and manufacturing industries in Portland and beyond.

This event series is a pivot from our annual, in-person Industry for a Day event, where last year we gave educators from 17 different local school districts and staff from 15 partner programs the opportunity to tour 28 construction and manufacturing sites in an effort to deconstruct bias and build stronger pathways into careers in skilled trades for the youth they serve. Check out the Industry Overview booklet to see some of the information they received!

Our first event, held on Friday, November 20th, was a virtual event designed to give attendees a broad overview of the high-wage, high-demand careers available in the skilled trades as well as how to support them. If you’re interested, you can review the slides here.

Future session topics may include Demystifying the Apprenticeship Process, Perspectives and Advice from Young Apprentices, and Challenges & Opportunities of Distance Learning (a CTE teacher- specific session).
