REGULAR ATTENDANCE
Students must be consistently present to learn and succeed in school. Research shows that attendance is related to math and reading outcomes, educational and social engagement, and rates of on-time graduation. Chronic Absenteeism spiked during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been slow to recover, especially in Oregon. Tracking disaggregated rates of regular attendance, defined by the percentage of students attending at least 90% of school days, helps us identify areas for support and further investigation into the reasons students are absent.

ACADEMIC PROGRESS
Math and reading proficiency are highly predictive of later outcomes, including high school graduation, college enrollment, and career readiness. Using state standardized testing to track disaggregated longitudinal data allows us to see student progress in key academic content from year to year. Additionally, we track 4-year high school graduation rates and the percentage of Ninth Grade students who earn at least 25% of the credits they need to graduate. Ninth grade is a crucial transition point for students, and this disaggregated credit attainment data is often used as an early warning system for ensuring students have the support they need to graduate from high school.

EDUCATION SYSTEMS
Disaggregating the data showing the rates at which students are identified for special education services and the rates at which students receive disciplinary action illustrates the existence of disparities, with rates higher or lower than expected for certain groups. This data will not clarify why these disparities exist, but provides an opportunity for further investigation and support.
